The cold and dreary winter

The cold and dreary winter

This week I came home from work and found Pyper watching Iron Man. Because SHE wanted to. Another day she was watching Thor. Am I lucky or what??? How many guys can say that their wives like to watch cool movies?

New routines

Pyper is still in orientation for her job. She will be done with that around March-April. Apparently it takes 5 MONTHS. Crazy. Practically speaking, what this means is that she works a few more days a week than otherwise would be normal. She is generally speaking liking her new job, and we are starting to adapt to having her at work more frequently.

On my end, this means a bit more time in the evenings where she is not home. This week, Thomas came over a few times to hang out after work, which was fun. He works in Draper, and lives in Provo, and hates driving through all of the horrible traffic in the evenings, so he just sits in his car waiting for a couple hours each day. (Which is a little bit weird to me. You don't like sitting in your car during traffic, so you sit in your car and just wait???) I have found myself bored in the evenings recently, so in trade for a little company I told him he could wait at our house every once in a while. I don't know about him, but I think it is much more enjoyable to have someone around to talk to.

Thrifting

One of my new favorite things to do is buy random crap from DI or Savers. Bonus points if it will turn into some sort of project. (Like re-upholstering a bar stool, or adding a table to a lamp). This is a fun way to furnish our house for relatively cheap, but it does make it nearly impossible to have a cohesive "look". Also, while I am thinking about it, it seems like prices at a lot of these places are CRAZY high lately. There should be nothing in DI for more than $10. Anyway, feel free to bask in the awesomeness of my latest find. One of our friends from Moab is getting married soon, and as she LOVES Japan, this gift will be perfect. (Hopefully they are legit and not just random cheap fakes)

cups
What is it you ask? Cups. I couldn't read the japanese label, so specifically what they are for will remain a mystery
sunglasses
This is an old photo, but consider it proof that we go to Savers a lot

Adventures at work

Those of you who know me are probably aware that I am VERY opinionated. I also have confidence bordering on arrogance. Hahahahaha. I had a few opportunities at work to practice playing nice with my coworkers. I am proud to report that rather than telling them that I think their idea is stupid and that the way we were debating it was even worse, I kept my mouth shut. In hindsight, I think this was a good idea, but in the moment I was so mad about so many things.

BUT... I am trying really hard to improve my ability to work well with others, and I realize that I often share my very strong opinions so strongly that no one else has space to disagree. This is never a problem when I am working with my brothers, as they are also very opinionated and confident. So the natural conclusion is that my coworkers are a bunch of limp noodles. That being said, I suspect that most people have a more 'normal' amount of confidence/arrogance, so my only recourse is to learn to temper my opinions in a way that more effectively facilitates teamwork.

Saturday

I have recently been very interested in Ham Radio #hobbyOfTheWeek. Yesterday, we were planning on going and getting certified for the next level. Yes. We. Another point for Pyper in the awesome wife category. She has after weeks of harassment agreed to get her Ham Radio license as well. Anyways, we were going to go take that test, but we slept in instead. Probably for the best, as neither one of us was ready.

Glamorous photo of me resetting the garage door opener

We putzed around most of the day. I fixed the garage door. Pyper did some work homework. We watched Avengers. (Again PYPER CHOSE THE MOVIE)

We found some interesting things at the grocery store this week

beef
This seafood was about to expire
tomato juice
New brand of tomato juice I have never tried before
